Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (Master's Program) Curriculum Policy

(1) Curriculum organization policy
Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (Master's Program) In order to acquire the skills listed in the diploma policy of the major, students will systematically acquire specialized knowledge from the basics to the application of intelligent information systems engineering in each field of information engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, and their boundary areas. We will organize a curriculum that will lead to the cultivation of interdisciplinarity necessary to explore new intelligent information systems engineering that will bring about change in society and create value. In addition to lecture courses to acquire specialized knowledge, seminar courses are mainly assigned to acquire the ability to set issues and interdisciplinarity through investigation of previous research and discussions with others, and special experiments and special research are arranged as practical courses to cultivate research execution and problem-solving skills. In addition, internship courses are offered to acquire interdisciplinarity through practical activities at research institutions inside and outside the university.

(2) Policy on the content of education and how to implement education
The subjects studied in the two years consist of "specialized subjects" and "common subjects". For specialized courses, the subjects necessary to acquire the abilities of [Perspectives (A), (B), (C)] stipulated in the diploma policy of the major are placed. Among the specialized courses, the purpose of the lecture courses for acquiring knowledge is to further deepen the knowledge and skills acquired in undergraduate-level education and to acquire a higher level of expertise, and for each field of intelligent information systems engineering (computer systems, mathematical intelligence, media information processing, systems science, electronic devices, information and communication engineering, integrated circuit engineering, etc.), [Perspective (A)] and [Perspective (B)] The corresponding lecture courses will be arranged as "Intelligent Information System Course Group". The Faculty Member in charge will give lectures in an appropriate format (seminar format, lecture format, group discussion format, etc.) for each subject. In addition, seminars are held in small groups with a focus on direct guidance by Supervisor to acquire the ability to set issues and interdisciplinarity through the investigation of previous research and discussions with others.
Courses such as "Special Experiment in Intelligent Information Systems Engineering" will be offered as "Seminar Practical Courses" as courses corresponding to the "Perspective (C)" that voluntarily sets tasks based on specialized knowledge in the field of intelligent information systems engineering and aims to cultivate problem-solving skills.
In the common courses, in order to acquire the ability to collaborate with researchers and engineers of different nationalities and specialties and develop new interdisciplinary fields, as subjects corresponding to [Perspectives (B), (C), (D)], etc., "Interdisciplinary Package Courses" related to social needs and cross-disciplinary technologies such as medicine and drug discovery, environment, energy, materials, robotics, and AI, The purpose of this course is to deepen understanding of the interdisciplinary fields of natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences, and to foster the ability to create new innovations. In addition, students will be able to learn not only theories but also various practical applications of intelligent information systems engineering technology directly from practitioners and corporate experts, providing opportunities to acquire creative skills on how to widely implement intelligent information systems engineering technology in society.

③ Policy regarding methods for evaluating learning outcomes
In order to develop engineers and researchers who have acquired the perspectives set out in the diploma policy, students are graded by exams and reports for lectures, and by reports and oral exams for experiments, practical training and exercises. Course grades are expressed in five levels: S, A, B, C and D, with S, A, B and C being passes and D being a fail. Students who pass are awarded the designated number of credits. In addition, for dissertations, the examination criteria and methods are clearly stated, and the dissertation examination and final examination are conducted rigorously by the Dissertation Examination Committee based on theses.
